Mina Karzand joined the UC Davis Department of Statistics as an Assistant Professor in summer 2021. Her background education is on the interface of statistics, information theory and computer science. Her research focuses on theoretical aspects of machine learning including learning graphical models, optimal sequential collaborative filtering, and active learning. Before joining UC Davis she held a research assistant professorship in Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago, postdoctoral positions at UW Madison, and MIT. Prior to that, she earned her doctorate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT in 2017. We are thrilled to be adding another brilliant mind to GGAM!
