Area of Interest

Dr. Nuño is interested in the application of statistics and applied mathematics to solve public health challenges, reduce health disparities, and improve patient health outcomes. Her expertise lies at the interface of mathematical modeling, biostatistics, data science, epidemiology, and public health. She is interested in modeling of infectious diseases such as influenza and COVID-19, outbreak prediction and forecasting using wastewater surveillance. She is also very interested in understanding the health effects of wildfire exposure.
