Professor Liu is committed to graduate education in the applied mathematical research areas. In particular, she is interested in the area of data-driven resource management and control, where she uses machine learning and optimization techniques to improve the performance of networks. Her research studies both practical issues in networks (such as network configuration), and more theoretical problems abstracted from it (such as bandits). In addition to her research, Professor Liu has taught optimization courses and enjoys working with students in applied math.
Professor Liu received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University. She has received a Best Paper Award in 2017 from the International Conference on Information Processing in Sensor Networks (IPSN).
