Shuyang Ling is interested in developing mathematical theories and algorithms to solve inverse problems arising from signal processing, wireless communication and image processing. A total of three prizes is awarded this year by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). Shuyang's prize is for his paper "Self-calibration and biconvex compressive sensing", coauthored with his advisor, Prof. Thomas Strohmer. The prize will be awarded in the course of the 2017 SIAM Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh.
